Leaving Ushuaia and Day at Sea

The World left Ushuaia yesterday at 6PM. Last year’s trip to Antarctica was very well received and the word was out. Whereas The World usually has 100 residents and guests, this trip attracted over 300 residents and guests. We’re still trying to figure out our body clocks and with it being light so late our 8:30PM dinner with our hosts, the Ansari’s, didn’t seem too late. The World has several restaurants and last night we tried The East which specializes in far east cuisine. Courtney tried some sushi . . . A highlight of the dinner was getting to ask Anousheh Ansari about her trip into outer space with the Russian space agency and her stay on the International Space Station (http://www.anoushehansari.com/). What a great adventure.

Just after the 11PM, and continuing with the space theme, the word was out that we could see the comet McNaught. We’d never seen a comet before and it was an unbelievable sight.

Today, we have been at sea the entire day as The World makes its way to Elephant Island in Antarctica. Tomorrow we arrive. We’re very excited.
